Wordpress Plugin problems

Sid Smith
asked this on March 21, 2011 05:54 pm

I installed the Wordpress Plugin and created a campaign exactly as specified in your instructions.

I get a page not found when I click on either the "View Live Page" or the link for the Contact on the COntacts page.

I deleted my campaign and started fresh... same problem. I verified that the URL is correct.  URL of the blank page:  http://www.businesswordsmiths.com/reports

I entered this value when I created the "Specialized" campaign.

Plus... on manual entry of address, it doesn't show a field for City. I had to go back in and edit the contact to add the city.

I'm not sure where to go from here, since nothing works as you say it will. If I can get this to work, it's exactly what I need.

Thanks.

Hi Sid,

Sometimes a theme can conflict with the plugin.  Can you try temporarily switching to the default wordpress theme and see if it works there.  That would be a good place to start diagnosing the problem..

Actually Sid.. I looked into your problem a little further and noticed that your campaign was not marked as a wordpress campaign. I made the change in the database and it seems to be working correctly now.

Let me know if you run into any other issues.  Cheers!

Okay.. one more thing.  I tried typing in the actual PURL into the URL to test, and it doesn't look like the redirection is happening correctly.

Do me a favor and open the .htaccess file (located in the root directory of your blog) and make sure that code  commented with "#PURL CODE" is located there.  If it is, copy the code and paste at the top of the .htaccess file.  This should help the redirect to function correctly.

If you would like me to assist with this, you can email me your FTP info, and I'd be happy to do that for you.

Hi Marty.  I just sent the FTP info to support@....

"#PURL CODE" wasn't in the .htaccess file. You can tell me what's supposed to be there and I'll update it, or you can update it. Let me know.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Sid,
Thanks for providing the FTP.  I was able to add the necessary .htaccess code to your account and the PURL seems to be redirecting correctly.
I will be looking into why the .htaccess code might not have been placed during the install.
If there is anything else I can help with please let me know.
Cheers,
Marty

Hi Marty!

Does the WordPress plugin work with WP 3.1.2?

Hey Dante,

The plugin should work fine with WP 3.1.2.  I don't know of any known bugs with this version.

Cheers,

I'm having the same issue as this with my Wordpress page and pURLem Plugin: Seems to work when testing mode is ON: http://sportsconnection.ca/2011-hockey-preview/?ID=839&purl=JamesParsons&page=1&test=Y&wordpress=Y

However, when it is off I get the 'purl not found' message: http://sportsconnection.ca/2011-hockey-preview/?purl=JamesParsons&ID=796&page=1&wordpress=Y

I've checked the .htaccess file as suggested above and it looks like the pURLem code is in there.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

James

Hi James,

Ya, it looks like your htaccess file is installed correctly.  Do you have your "Client" ID in Purlem's wordress settings?  This is different than the user ID.

To find the ClientID click on the "Client" tab (in Purlem's dashboard), then select "edit" next to the client name.

See if that does the trick..

Cheers,
Marty
